When should I stop swaddling my baby?

  • As your baby grows, they will outgrow their need for swaddling. It's time to stop swaddling your baby as they start to show signs of "breaking out" of the swaddle, when they begin to move about the cot and roll over, or when they to prefer to have their arms free. To ease the transition for the baby, you can start introducing the HALO® SleepSack® Sleeping Bag.

Can I start using a larger-sized SleepSack® Swaddle on my newborn and then he/she can just grow into it?

  • We do not recommend using a SleepSack® Swaddle that does not correspond to your baby’s current size. The purpose of the swaddle is to keep your baby from having any excess material that may bundle up around baby’s nose or mouth. If the baby is wearing a swaddle that is too large, there is a potential for the baby's head to slip through the neck hole or for excess material to bundle up around his or her face.

How does the SleepSack® Swaddle help babies sleep safely?

  • The SleepSack® Swaddle replaces loose blankets in the cot that can cover a baby’s face and interfere with breathing. It also helps reduce the risk of baby overheating.

What is your size chart for HALO® SleepSack® baby swaddles?

    • 0-3 months, 48 - 58 cm, 3 - 5 kg
    • 3-6 months, 58 - 66 cm, 6 - 8 kg

What is a TOG Value?

  • A TOG is a unit of measure of thermal insulation used in the textile trade. The British "TOG" value is the international standard measurement of a blanket's thermal effectiveness (how well it keeps you warm).

    • Keep in mind that layering allows great flexibility in keeping babies warm and cozy without overheating.
    • The HALO® SleepSack® wearable blanket is suitable for a wide range of temperatures by adjusting the clothing worn underneath it. Babies can wear anything from just a nappy to a long sleeve bodysuit or a cotton coverall.
    • All SleepSack® fabrics breathe and wick moisture to avoid overheating.

Why is the zipper upside down?

  • The zipper is inverted to allow you to unzip the SleepSack® Swaddle from the bottom for easy nappy changes. There is no need to disrobe or unswaddle your sleeping baby.

Will my baby overheat?

  • We have found that the SleepSack® Swaddle is suitable for a wide range of temperatures by adjusting the clothing you put on your baby underneath the swaddle. It keeps them comfortable in all but the warmest rooms. They can wear anything from just a nappy underneath the SleepSack® Swaddle to a coverall or sleeper. Many parents have reported that their babies sleep better with the SleepSack® Swaddle since they stay covered all night long.

How does the SleepSack® Swaddle hold up in the washing machine?

  • Our SleepSack® Swaddle is made of the highest-grade fabrics available which will remain durable through many washings. It should be washed with like colours, and tumbled dry on low heat. Remember to close the fastener strips on the swaddle before washing to prevent it from attaching to other items in the wash. It is also recommended to close the zipper and turn inside-out before laundering.

Are HALO® products tested and compliant in the EU?

  • All of our HALO® products have been tested extensively and comply with the EU laws. Our products are being tested frequently to ensure we comply with the latest regulations.

Is the SleepSack® Swaddle chemically treated with flame retardant chemicals?

  • No. The fabric and fibers used to make our garments are not chemically treated in any way.

How do I transition my baby from swaddling to a SleepSack® Sleeping Bag?

  • When your baby shows signs of breaking free from the SleepSack® or rolling over, it’s time to discontinue swaddling. To make the transition easier, we recommend gradually transitioning your little one to the SleepSack® Sleeping Bag. You can do this by swaddling your baby for a few nights with one arm out, then two arms out of the swaddle. Your baby will still have the secure feeling of the swaddle while gradually adjusting to having their arms free.

How do I use the SleepSack® Sleeping Bag?

  • Slip the SleepSack® Sleeping Bag over your baby's regular sleepwear as a replacement to loose blankets in the cot. You may want to put a short or long sleeve bodysuit or a coverall on underneath the wearable blanket depending on your nursery temperature. Don't put your baby to sleep wearing a hat, as this can result in overheating.

SleepSack® Ideal Temp

Can SleepSack Ideal Temp be used throughout the year?

  • Yes. Ideal Temp is designed to help keep your babe at a comfortable temperature at any time of year. It helps takes the guesswork out of how to dress them for sleep regardless of the season.

How is HALO SleepSack Ideal Temp different from other HALO SleepSacks?

  • SleepSack Ideal Temp is the ONLY SleepSack that includes IntelliThread™ technology to help regulate baby’s body temperature.

How does IntelliThread Technology work?

  • IntelliThread is a temperature regulating fabric technology that helps keep your baby safe and comfortable during sleep. It absorbs heat when baby is too warm, stores it, and then releases it back when their temperature dips. It helps control their temperature, avoiding heat spikes so they can sleep better. IntelliThread is embedded in the swaddle fabric, and won’t fade or wash out over time.

What is HALO SleepSack swaddle Ideal Temp made from?

  • It’s made of an extra soft, cosy blend of polyester and rayon.

Does IntelliThread Technology eventually wear out over time?

  • IntelliThread fibers are embedded in HALO SleepSack swaddle Ideal Temp, so they will never fade or wash out.

What is the best room temperature for a baby when sleeping?

  • The ideal temperature is between 16-20°C. It can be difficult to judge the temperature in the room, so use a room thermometer in the room where your baby sleeps to help.

How do I know if my baby is too cold or hot during sleep?

  • Speak with your pediatrician if you have concerns about your baby’s temperature while sleeping. Signs that your baby is too warm may include flushing, sweating, or breathing heavily. If you change the temperature, check your baby to make sure they’re comfortable. Gently touching the back of the baby's head or belly can help you assess their body temperature.

Are there any safety reminders when using HALO SleepSack swaddle Ideal Temp?

  • Always place your baby on their back to sleep. Never place anything in the sleep area with your baby. No pillows, bumpers, toys, or loose blankets.

Using this product is not a replacement for ensuring that baby’s room is a comfortable temperature, so always try to keep the room between 16-20°C. It can be difficult to judge the temperature in the room, so use a room thermometer in the room where your baby sleeps to help.

Specifically for Ideal Temp Swaddle: It must be appropriately sized, snug, positioned around the baby's torso, and securely fastened to reduce the risk of covering your baby’s mouth or nose. Discontinue swaddling when your baby shows signs of rolling over or breaking out of the swaddle.

Can I buy the size up for my baby, so they will be able to wear it longer?

  • Unlike clothing, baby cannot “grow into” a swaddle. Make sure to choose the correct size for your baby’s current height and weight; we recommend sizing down if your baby is in between sizes.

How does Ideal Temp compare to other HALO swaddles?

  • Our SleepSack® Sleeping Bags are made of the highest-grade fabrics available which will remain durable through many washings. It should be washed with like colours, and tumbled dry on low heat. It is also recommended to close the zipper and turn inside-out before laundering.

Are HALO® products tested and compliant in the EU?

  • Ideal Temp swaddle is different from other swaddles. It’s made from a breathable, temperature regulating fabric that’s stretchier than standard HALO cotton or microfleece. To accommodate the extra stretch, Ideal Temp has shorter wings, which help provide the same snug fit babies find most comforting.

How do I know if Ideal Temp is the correct size?

  • Because Ideal Temp includes some stretch, it can run slightly bigger than our other swaddles. We recommend sizing down if your baby is between sizes.

Ideal Temp should fit snuggly around your baby’s arms and chest. If you notice excess material, the swaddle may be too big. We recommend waiting until your baby is slightly older and bigger to ensure a snug fit.

BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper

Why is the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper ideal for nursing mums?

  • The BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper supports nursing mums in two important ways:

    • Its swivel design and retractable wall feature make it easy for mum to reach in and lift baby while in bed (vs. stationary and attached bassinets, which often necessitate mum getting out of bed to lift baby). After nursing, it also allows mum to return baby to their separate sleep area without requiring mum to get out of bed.

Why is the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper ideal for any mum, but especially mums after a C-section?

  • Approximately one-third of all mums have a Cesarean Section birth. Recovery from this surgery can make any movement painful and difficult – including lifting baby, or having to get in and out of bed to take care of baby. Unlike stationary and attached bassinets, the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper’s 360° range of motion allows mum to tend to many of her baby’s needs without having to get out of bed. And when mum does have to get in or out of bed, the swivel design allows mum to gently reposition it to accommodate her – so getting in or out of bed can be done easily and with minimal discomfort.

Why is it easier for mums to get in and out of bed with the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper?

  • Stationary or attached bassinets are hard to work around. When positioned right next or attached to the bed, mums often have to get in or out of bed by crawling around them. This can be hard to do, inconvenient, and even painful (especially for mums who have had a C-section birth). The BassiNest Swivel Sleeper makes getting in and out of bed easy, convenient and comfortable. Unlike traditional or attached bassinets, its 360° range of motion allows mum to gently move the baby’s sleep area aside, so she can rise or sit down with ease.

How does the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper enhance bonding with baby?

  • With the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper, mum and dad can safely sleep close to their baby – closer than with any other bassinet or co-sleeper. This close proximity allows to more easily reach in and soothe baby; the retractable wall makes it easier to pick up baby, and the mesh sides mean that you can better see your little one. All this culminates in a closer, more intimate sleeping relationship between moms and dads and baby while ensuring that baby is still sleeping safe and sound in their own, separate sleep area.

What are all the ways the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper can move?

  • No other infant sleeper on the market moves like the Bassinest swivel sleeper. Its dual-swivel design rotates a full 360° from two distinct pivot points, allowing mum and dad to position baby just where they can best monitor the little. The four-point, tip-proof base is universally adjustable to accommodate bed heights from 60 – 86 cm, and the patented retractable sidewall feature moves down, then returns automatically to allow mum and dad easy access to the little one.

How does the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper’s lowering bedside wall work?

  • The BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper’s patented, retractable sidewall lowers easily when mum or dad reaches in to lift or soothe baby. Its auto-return safety feature automatically returns the sidewall to its original, upright position when the pressure is removed, ensuring that baby is always sleeping safely.

Can the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper be used on either side of the bed?

  • Yes, the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper’s 360° range of motion means that it can be positioned and used on either side of an adult bed.

Can it be used with all kinds of adult beds?

  • The BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper’s low-profile, four-point base is designed to accommodate virtually all bed heights and constructions, with the exception of platform beds. It can be used with beds from 60 - 86 cm in height with only 5 cm clearance from the floor required.

Can it be used on bare or carpeted floors?

  • Yes, the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper can be used on bare or carpeted floors. If using with an area rug, please ensure that all four legs are placed either on or off the rug for maximum stability.

What special features come with the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper?

  • The BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper Premiere comes with nightlight, floorlight, soothing sounds and two levels of vibration. Each features an automatic shutoff after 30 minutes of use, and the volume of the sound features do not exceed 65dBA. Is it easy to move from room to room? While the BassiNest® swivel sleeper is easy to move, it is not designed to be a portable infant sleeper.

Is the BassiNest® easy to move from room to room?

  • While the BassiNest® swivel sleeper is easy to move, it is not designed to be a portable infant sleeper.

Is there an incline feature on the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper?

  • No. Inclining a baby is potentially dangerous and not recommended as the baby can tend to slide towards the foot of the inclined sleep surface. Studies show limited benefit of inclining a baby to treat colic or reflux.

Can the bed portion be removed from BassiNest® base and used without it?

  • The Essentia and Premiere models should not be used without the base.

Is the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper easily portable so that I can use it in other rooms of my home?

  • The BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper can be moved to another room. The “cradle” disconnects easily from the base. So the base and cradle can be moved in two pieces. Please note that the “cradle” of the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper should never be used alone without the base.

Can I use the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper for my twins?

  • To ensure your children’s safety, the BassiNest Swivel Sleeper should not be used for more than one infant at a time.

Can I use a mattress other than the one provided with the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper?

  • The unique, hourglass-shape of the BassiNest pad is designed to fit optimally into the BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper. It is not recommended to use any pad other than the one provided, as doing so could create a poor fit and result in an unsafe sleep environment for the baby.

Does the BassiNest® swivel sleeper come with a fitted sheet? Can I buy more?

  • Yes, the BassiNest® swivel sleeper comes with a custom fitted sheet. You can purchase additional fitted sheets on here.

BassiNest® Flex

Can I travel with a bassinet?

  • BassiNest Flex makes it easy to travel with baby, since it can be quickly assembled or disassembled, without any tools. Its lightweight design and convenient carry bag make it the perfect portable bassinet solution when you’re on the go.

Can a newborn sleep in a travel bassinet?

  • BassiNest Flex is perfectly safe for newborns to sleep in. Designed for the youngest babies (up to 5 months old or 10 kg.), this breathable side sleeper bassinet helps parents room share, instead of bedshare, aligning with the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommendation for the first 6 months. Remember to stop using BassiNest Flex when your baby shows signs of rolling or pushing up.

Do I need a travel bassinet?

  • BassiNest Flex can be used at home and/or for travel. Its lightweight design makes it easy to move around the house, so you can keep a close eye on your baby while they’re napping outside of the bedroom. When traveling (even if just on trips to grandparents’ house), it’s convenient to bring your own bassinet, since you’re never sure what type of cot, if any, is available at a hotel or homestay. Having a portable bassinet that your baby is already familiar with will make it that much easier for them to sleep safely and soundly.

Is it okay for Bassinest Flex to move a little when my baby is in it?

  • You may notice some movement in the BassiNest Flex. This slight sway is normal and to be expected. Please reference the assembly manual or video for correct instruction. Additionally, once your baby shows signs of rolling over or pushing up, it's time to move them out of BassiNest Flex and into a cot.

What are BassiNest Flex's safety certifications?
